Queriniana, a Catholic publishing house in Brescia, has launched a new series titled Passi di Sinodalità [Steps of Synodality], curated by Rafael Luciani and Serena Noceti, who are both theologians – one Venezuelan, the other Italian – and collaborators of Women Church World. The first volume, Sulla via - Una Chiesa tutta sinodale [On the Way – A Fully Synodal Church], is enriched with a Preface by Pope Francis. It invites readers to rediscover the constitutionally synodal nature of the Church, as an essential dimension of its being and its action.
In the first section, titled Thinking Synodality, the two authors present the reasons for embarking on the “synodal journey”, which details a return to the foundational principles of Vatican II’s ecclesiology. They then explore how the Church is built on synodally, both at the local and universal levels.
In the second section of the volume, titled For an Initiation into Synodality, the two theologians offer a concrete and practical analysis of the reality at the level of personal stances and resistances, as well as on the plane of community life. The approach is practical and engaging.
For Queriniana, Serena Noceti also publishes Servire l’umanità, servire la Chiesa - Una proposta teologica e pastorale sul diaconato [Serving Humanity, Serving the Church – A Theological and Pastoral Proposal on the Diaconate]. An international expert on the subject, Noceti is convinced—and justifies—that deacons are and will increasingly be crucial in deeply transforming the face of the Church, and push it to extend its presence beyond ecclesial structures, reaching workplaces and family life.
