A Dominican nun, essayist, and prison doctor, Anne Lécu has published a new essay in France on the figure of the prophet Elijah, Il Signore non era nel fuoco [The Lord Was Not In The Fire] (Editions du Cerf), which she describes as a “cantata”. What does it mean to be a “man of God”? Who is Elijah, the prophet who opposes professional prophets? Why does God entrust him with the mission of overturning idols? How can one search for God in fire, storm, and earthquake, yet find nothing? Moreover, how does one find Him in the silence?

In the face of the challenges of the contemporary Church, Lécu revisits this zealous preacher of God and advocates for a spirituality that is attentive to the most vulnerable in today’s world.
