Pope Francis offered his closeness and prayers to Cardinal Pietro Parolin and his family, following the death of their mother, Ada Miotti Parolin.
In the telegram, Pope Francis expressed his spiritual closeness to Cardinal Parolin and his family and assured them of his prayers. “While I entrust your dear relative to the mercy of the Father who gives life”, the telegram reads, “I raise my prayer to the Lord to welcome her into eternal joy”. Pope Francis concluded by invoking “consolation in faith in the Risen Christ” for the mourning family and sending his paternal blessing.
The funeral was celebrated by Cardinal Parolin on 3 September in Schiavon in the province of Vicenza.
On Saturday, 31 August Ada Miotti Parolin died at the age of 96. “She fell asleep peacefully in the Lord”, her children announced, expressing their sorrow, at the same time confirming their faith in the Risen Christ. The death notice also includes the names of Mariarosa and Giovanni with their spouses, children, grandchildren and all the relatives who recall the Lord’s words in the obituary, “I am the resurrection and the life”, and that life has changed, not ended.
