The logos and themes for Pope Francis’ Apostolic Journey to Luxembourg on 26 September, and Belgium, from 26 to 29 September, have been announced.
For the visit to Luxembourg, the logo shows an image of the Pope giving a blessing, an outline of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in the background. The logo uses yellow and white, the colours of the Vatican City State flag, and blue, alluding to the Marian devotion deeply rooted in the history of Catholicism in Luxembourg. At the bottom right is the motto for the trip, “Pour servir”. It refers to Christ, who came “not to be served but to serve” (Matthew 20:28). Following her Teacher’s example, the Church is called to be at the service of humanity.
The logo of the visit to Belgium, which will include stops in the cities of Bruxelles, Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve, instead shows a map of the country, with a road going across it and people of various sizes (ages) and various colours (cultures), walking along it, the Pope, dressed in white, at the centre. Further down is the motto of the trip: “En route, avec Espérance”, a call to walk together along the path that is Belgium’s history, but which is also the Gospel, the way of Jesus Christ, our hope.
