At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration on Sunday, 26 May, Pope Francis prayed the Angelus with the approximately 50,000 people gathered in Saint Peter’s Square. He announced that the second World Children’s Day will take place in September 2026. The following is the English text of the Holy Father’s words to those present.

Dear boys and girls, the Mass is over, but today we talked about God; God the Father who created the world, God the Son who redeemed us and God the Holy Spirit. But what does the Holy Spirit do? I don’t remember [Respond: He accompanies us in life] I didn’t hear well. [Respond: He accompanies us in life] He accompanies us in life. Now let us all pray together to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, “Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen”. Now we are leaving, greet your parents, your friends, but most importantly you saw when they brought the bread and wine, that there were children, and that there was even a grandfather: so greet grandparents! All right? A round of applause to grandparents as well. Thank you very much! I would like to thank those who organized this, Father Enzo Fortunato who did so much, Commander Cagnoli who also did a lot, and everyone else who helped them. Dear boys and girls, goodbye!
