Pope Francis meets with President of the Republic of Latvia

On Thursday morning, 16 May, at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican, the Holy Father received in audience the President of the Republic of Latvia, H.E. Mr Edgars Rinkēvičs, who subsequently met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by Fr Daniel Pacho, Undersecretary for the Multilateral Sector of the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During cordial discussions, which took place at the Secretariat of State, satisfaction was expressed at the good relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Latvia, highlighting the importance of the Christian faith in Latvian society.

Particular mention was made of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing the role of the international community in the search for peaceful solutions, and the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence and the development of new technologies.
