Pope Francis is due to make a private visit to the Women’s Penitentiary of Rebibbia in Rome on Holy Thursday, 28 March, where he will preside over Holy Mass at 4 p.m. The Prefecture of the Pontifical Household made the announcement on Wednesday, 6 March. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper opens the Easter Triduum, which commemorates the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ and leads to the celebration of Easter Sunday.

On Holy Thursday in 2023 the Holy Father washed the feet of young men and women at the Casal del Marmo juvenile detention centre in the outskirts of Rome.
