In the room next to the Thesis Hall in the Pontifical Gregorian University we met Father Christoph Theobald, sj, a refined theologian (whose approach we remember in his voluminous work on Christianity) but today, above all, a Synod Father. It is now getting late in the centre of Rome, the university has emptied and the evening quickly turns dark and cold after the long hot month of October, but Father Christoph, born in 1946, is ready and calm, eager to impart the energy of the “spring” atmosphere he breathed in the great Synod Hall. We ask him questions regarding the investigation into the world and the Church in “a change of epoch”. It is not an epoch of change but a change of epoch and the greatest change is certainly the anthropological aspect.
