
On Tuesday, 7 November, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, met with the General Governor of Australia, H.E. Gen. David John Hurley. The Archbishop traveled to Australia on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Australia and the Holy See. During his stay, from 4 to 10 November, he met with the Minister of Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Don Farrell, the Australian Bishops’ Conference, the Council of Eastern Churches, the Aboriginal community in Melbourne and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Penny Wong. He also spoke at a conference on religious freedom at the Australian Catholic University on 6 November.
