‘Changes’

13 October 2023

With the publication of the Holy Father’s Apostolic Exhortation Laudate Deum, on 4 October, the Holy See Press Office presented a preview of the photographic exhibition, “Changes”.

The exhibition, curated by Lia and Marianna Beltrami, together with the Dicastery for Communication and with the collaboration of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, takes you through a journey of 24 shots, each photograph combined with words from Saint Francis’ “Canticle of the Creatures”. The photographs present the contrast between the beauty and wonder of Creation and the destructive effects of climate change, both on our environment and on populations around the world. The exhibition is an invitation to reflect on the actions to be taken to praise God with the same strength as Saint Francis in a time of socio-ecological crisis.

Actress, activist and ... beekeeper Whoopi Goldberg, also visited the exhibition after having been received by the Pope. She had waited almost 11 years to meet him, and finally she managed to do so on Thursday, 12 October. Goldberg discussed the importance of fighting the good fight, in whatever way possible, as we strive to respond to Pope Francis’ appeal for hope, love and inclusion to heal our broken world.

The preview of the exhibition, with a selection of 15 photographs, will be on display at the Holy See Press Office for the duration of the 16th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. The complete virtual exhibition is available at https://emotionstogeneratechange.liabeltrami.it/
