The children of Asti threw a party for Pope Francis in the “Censin Bosia” stadium. It was the final event of the Pope’s visit to Asti on Sunday, 20 November, before he returned to the Vatican via helicopter. Nearly 1,500 children, accompanied by their parents and teachers from the parish, gave him a warm welcome from the stands. Emma and Rebecca Negro, 11-year-old twins and students at “Brofferio — Martyrs of freedom” middle school, spoke on everyone’s behalf and gave the Pope a bouquet of white and yellow flowers and some drawings. Then nine-year-old Andrea Penna gave the Pope a red and white Asti football team jersey with the number 10 and the name “Bergoglio”.
