The Athletica Vaticana cricket team was in Malta from 1 to 10 July, where they played four matches against local teams, but also completed a pilgrimage, following in the footsteps of Saint Paul, and of Pope Francis, who visited the island from 2 to 3 April. It was an experience of Christian witness among Malta’s parish communities and in a welcome centre run by Saint Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity. The initiative was coordinated with Archbishop of Malta Charles Scicluna, who met with the group on Saturday morning, 9 July. It was the cricket team’s eighth “Light of Faith Tour” — which in previous editions has taken them to Argentina, Great Britain (where they met Queen Elizabeth II), Kenya, Portugal and Asia.
