At the General Audience on Wednesday morning, 29 December 2021, Pope Francis continued his series of catecheses on Saint Joseph, highlighting him as an example of a persecuted and courageous migrant. The following is a translation of the Holy Father’s words which he shared in Italian with the faithful gathered in the Paul vi Hall.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,Good morning!
Today I would like to present Saint Joseph to you as a persecuted and courageous migrant. This is how the Evangelist Matthew describes him. This particular event in the life of Jesus, which also involves Joseph and Mary as protagonists, is traditionally known as “the flight into Egypt” (cf. Mt 2:13-23).
