Archbishop of Brisbane publicly endorses the ‘Uluru Statement from the Heart’

On Friday, 24 September, during the celebration of Holy Mass for First Nations leaders and parish representatives at the Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre in Ormiston, Queensland, Archbishop Mark Coleridge, President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, publicly endorsed the “Uluru Statement from the Heart”, which demands a constitutional voice for Australia’s indigenous peoples, recognizing that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were the first sovereign Nations of the continent.
