26 July - Saints Anne and Joachim

Parents of the Virgin Mary and grandparents of Jesus, Saints Anne and Joachim are celebrated on July 26. Saint Anne is venerated as the patron saint of women in labour, mothers, and widows. She is also honoured in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

In the Vatican, this feast holds special significance as it marks the celebration of the Pontifical Parish of Saint Anne, established by Pope Pius XI on May 30, 1929, through the Apostolic Constitution Ex Lateranensi Pacto, and entrusted to the care of the Augustinians.
