After their audience with Pope Francis, the ministers who had participated in the G7 conference in Assisi and Solfagnano visited the museum of Vatican Radio in the Vatican Gardens. They were led by Italy’s Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli. Welcoming the delegation, the Prefect for the Dicastery of Communication, Paolo Ruffini, encouraged them to continue to work together for a future in which each person may feel that they are an integral part of the community. Indeed, he noted, it is the only way to achieve a society in which no one is excluded.

The ministers were in Italy to participate in the first ever ministerial-level meeting of G7 ministers dedicated to inclusion and disability. The meeting, which took place from 14 to 16 October, concluded with the signing of the Solfagnano Charter, which commits signatories to integrating disability rights into political agendas and taking concrete actions to ensure accessibility to all.
