Ombretta Pettigiani (Editor), Ezechiele. Introduzione, traduzione e commento [Ezekiel: Introduction, Translation, and Commentary], San Paolo, 2024
Gradually, we are acquiring all the volumes of the series Nuovissima versione della Bibbia dai testi originali [Newest Version of the Bible from the Original Texts]. The individual biblical books are presented in a new version that includes the ancient texts, in this case Hebrew (while for the New Testament it is Greek), accompanied by a thorough textual-philological apparatus and extensive exegetical-theological commentary. The advantage is to have the commentary of an entire prophetic text, in this case 46 chapters, in a single manageable volume that facilitates meditation. These are not academic books, but the biblical scholars who curate them are so adept at presenting the results of recent studies and the intriguing provocations of the Gospels with extreme clarity that they challenge our comfortable biblical thoughts. The curator for this commentary on Ezekiel is Ombretta Pettigiani, a Franciscan missionary nun of the Infant Jesus, with a doctorate from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, who is particularly interested in prophecy. In addition, she is a permanent professor of Old Testament at the Theological Institute of Assisi.
