On Wednesday morning, 24 April, in the “Auletta” of the Paul vi Hall, Pope Francis met with the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. A communiqué released by the Holy See Press Office after their meeting, reported that the Vice President also met with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
“During the cordial talks at the Secretariat of State” the statement reads, “the good relations between the Holy See and Ghana were noted, and attention was focused on some aspects of the country’s political and socio-economic situation, especially concerning collaboration in the fields of education and health”.
The parties also exchanged views “on current international issues, with particular reference to security problems in countries in West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea”.
