Pope Francis has sent 10,000 units of medicine to Türkiye to assist people recovering from February’s massive earthquake. The Papal Almoner, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, sent the medicine in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy to the Holy See, which provided guidance and instructions on the most urgently needed medicine. “This effort is possible thanks to the help of volunteers”, who helped “monitor the height of the pallets and their weight”, the Cardinal said.

Neighbouring Syria, also devastated by the earthquake, has already received financial aid from the Pope in the past thanks to the Apostolic Nunciature, which helps coordinate the process to help the population.

Italian Bishops have embarked on their own fundraising campaign to assist people in both Syria and Türkiye with a collection that will continue until 30 April.
