Women who fought for women's rights. In the United Kingdom, Millicent Garrett Fawcett (1847-1929), writer and suffragist was the first to whom a statue was dedicated. It is located at the centre of British democracy, in Parliament Square in London,

In the Ivory Coast, a monument was dedicated to the “March on Grand-Bassam”, a women's protest to demand the release of political leaders imprisoned by the French colonial authorities from 22 to 24 December 1949.

In Italy, in Milan, a statue has stood since 202, dedicated to Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, heroine of the Risorgimento.

In the United States, there is a memorial in New York for Harriet Tubman (1822-1913), who fought for the abolition of slavery. In 2020, a monument was erected in Central Park honoring the three human rights pioneers Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton. This is the first time a statue of the like dedicated to historical figures has been erected.
