 New Irish ambassador to the Holy See presents credentials to Pope  ING-048

On Monday morning, 28 November, the Holy Father received in audience H.E. Ms Frances Collins, the new ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, for the presentation of her Letters of Credence by which she is accredited to the Holy See.

Ms Frances Collins was born in Cork on 15 October 1980. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in History, Politics and Social Studies from the University of Limerick in 2003 and an MA in European Integration from the same University in 2004. She has held the following posts: desk officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs, first in public information and development education, Development Cooperation Division (2008-2012), then with responsibilities in Central, Western and Eastern Africa, Humanitarian Division (2012-2014); Second Secretary at Embassy of Ireland in Uganda (2014-2017); Vice Head of Mission and Head of the Political Section at the EU delegation to South Sudan (2017-2019); Vice Director of the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Section, Department of Foreign Affairs.
