Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore (USA) and Supreme Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, made a four-day visit to Poland and Ukraine in early October to deliver a message of hope and solidarity to the people displaced by the war in Ukraine and to those providing humanitarian and spiritual aid. While in these nations, he helped distribute aid to refugees, observed the ongoing humanitarian efforts flowing from the Knights of Columbus Ukraine Solidarity Fund to people in need, and met with Catholic leaders. Reflecting on the visit, his first to this region, and on the everyday acts of selfless heroism he saw, Archbishop Lori said he “felt the resilience of a people struggling to retain not only their territory, but also their faith, culture, and national identity.” He began his visit in prayer at the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and the ...
