Pope Francis prays at Indigenous Cemetery

Pope Francis spent time in silent prayer and recollection in a cemetery built next to the former Ermineskin Indian residential school. The cemetery is believed to hold the remains of indigenous children who attended these schools. During the visit to Canada, the Pope asked forgiveness from the indigenous populations for the abuses they suffered in the residential schools run by Catholics between the 19th and 20th centuries.
