Pope Francis expressed his sorrow upon learning about the discovery of at least 46 dead migrants in an abandoned semi-truck on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas, on Monday, 27 June. On the Holy Father’s Twitter account, @Pontifex, Pope Francis asked to pray “for these brothers and sisters who died following their hope of a better life” and that the Lord might open people’s hearts “so these misfortunes never happen again”. According to authorities, among the 16 survivors who were found in the truck, four were children. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
