A special service to mark the 800th anniversary of the Synod of Oxford of 1222 was held on Sunday, 8 May, at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford. With the goal of encouraging Christians to reject contemporary forms of anti-Judaism and antisemitism, the Church of England issued an apology to the Jewish community over laws passed in the 13th century which paved the way for forms of anti-Jewish persecution that still exist today.
