“Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen”. The passage taken from the Acts of the Apostles (26:16) is the central theme of National Youth Sunday, an event promoted by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) for Sunday, 8 August. “This theme”, Fr Chetan Machado, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Youth Commission, explained to L’Osservatore Romano, “paves the way and invites young people to rediscover Christ, young and alive among them, to help them become authentic witnesses and proclaimers of the Gospel”.
