Indigenous food systems Game-changing solutions for the world

To counter the risk of making “agriculture an activity entirely unrelated to nature” and the “ecocidal practices” driven by “economic interests”, in order to “to increase food production worldwide by more than 50%” — which is the minimum necessary to feed “the more than 9 billion people projected to inhabit the planet by 2050” — we need to promote “Indigenous food systems”. This ‘recipe’, supported by studies and research, was once again emphasized by Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, in his remarks at the UN Food Systems Pre-Summit, which concluded on 28 July at FAO headquarters in Rome.
