The Pope calls for prayers
for vocations
On
Good Shepherd Sunday, also World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Benedict XVI
ordained, in the Vatican Basilica, nine new priests of the Diocese of Rome. At
the end of Mass he led the Regina Caeli with the faithful present in St Peter's
Square. “T he Lord always calls”, he said, “but all too often we do not
listen”. From there, the Pope also invited us to pray “for the Church, for every
local community, that it may be like a watered garden in which all the seeds of
vocation that God scatters in abundance sprout and ripen”. At the end Benedict
XVI recalled the first anniversary of the Beatification of John Paul II.
