Benedict XVI at the presentation of the credentials of eleven new ambassadors
The logic of power
breaks up society
Globalization and interdependence are not, “a threat, but an advantage,” if
men and women understand that, “they have a common destiny,” said the Pope
to
eleven new ambassadors to the Holy See, received in audience on Thursday
morning, December 15 in the Sala Clementina at the Vatican to present their
letters of credential.
“We are all responsible for each other,” Benedict XVI said. “It is important to have a positive conception of solidarity,” because it is, “the concrete lever of integrated human development which allows humanity to proceed towards its fullness.”
In this sense, it is important to foster education for young people, to give life an authentic, “intergenerational solidarity.” In particular, those who govern are called to, “provide examples of creativity,” delineating, “necessary measures to give youth a fundamental ethical basis.” Concern for, “the destiny of future generations,” assured the Pontiff, “results in significant progress in the perception of the unity of the human species.”
