Women scientists and the man scientist

He had said that it was “better not to have women in laboratories because we fall in love with them, they fall in love with us and when you criticize them they start crying”. Thus, justifiably overwhelmed by criticism, Tim Hunt, Nobel Prize Winner for medicine in 2001, resigned from University College, London. However his new punishment now comes from women scientist colleagues who launched a photographic campaign on Twitter to respond with a smile to his sexist sentences. The hashtag #distractinglysexy is thus used by women biologists, archaeologists, chemists, geologists and so forth, to have ironic images circulated concerning the female capacity for distraction – what with tracksuits for work and glasses perched on noses – in the workplace. Once again, women and irony against sexism.
