The Plenary Meeting of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life was held on 28 January. For the first time 10 women major superiors took part in it. Although women constitute almost 83 per cent of all religious, until today their presence was represented only by Sr Nicla Spezzati, the Undersecretary. Let us hope that this is a first step in a more balanced recognition of the presence of women in this important ecclesial body.
