A woman President of IFCU

A Portuguese woman, Isabel Maria de Oliveira Capeloa Gil, is the new President of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) and is the first woman to hold this office. Rector of Portugal’s Catholic Athenaeum, Capeloa Gil is a specialist in comparative literature. In her post-election speech in Ireland at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, the President assured those present that “she would work to make the power of the few… the force of many”.
