The traditional blessing
of the baby Jesus figurines

Rediscovering holiness and the beauty of the family. This was Cardinal Angelo Comastri's invitation to the children present on Sunday morning, 15 December, at the traditional blessing of the baby Jesus figurines for Nativity scenes.

These children will place the statues of Jesus in the manager on Christmas Eve in homes in Rome.

Despite the rain, thousands participated in the initiative of the Centre of Roman Oratories (COR), who met in St Peter's Square, waiting for Pope Francis' blessing at the end of the Angelus. The meeting which included traditional Christmas songs, took place after the cardinal celebrated Mass in the Vatican Basilica.
