Pope Francis emphasized this in his homily on Ash Wednesday, 1 March, which he celebrated in the Cathedral of Saint Sabina of Aventino in Rome. Bowing his head before Cardinal Jozef Tomko,Cardinal-Priest of Santa Sabina, the Pontiff was the first to receive the imposition of ashes.
