The sisters of Guatemala

Delicate and essential: this is the service that the Al Jazeera journalist David Mercer has carried out from San Pedro, Guatemala, relating the commitment of the sisters in favour of children belonging to the Mayan population, among the poorest and most neglected minority in the country. In the absence of state aid, the religious offer the children food, medical care, education and spiritual guidance. Sister Maria Del Rosario appreciates the responsibility and the beauty of their work: to give the children the tools to reach out to adulthood with awareness and ability.
