On Friday afternoon, 17 September, the Holy Father was driven to Lambeth Palace where he paid a Visit to the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Dr Rowan Williams, who met him at the entrance to the Library. Present in the lobby were the Archbishop of York, the Primate of Scotland, the Archbishop of Wales and the Bishops of London and Winchester. The Archbishop of Canterbury introduced the meeting, after which the Holy Father delivered the following Address. The meeting ended with an exchange of gifts, the recitation of the “Our Father” and a concluding prayer. Lastly, the Pope had a private meeting with the Archbishop, his wife and his family in the State Drawing Room.
