Syrian soldiers killed in Aleppo

· Fifty dead after an attack at the Carlton Hotel ·

At least 50 Syrian soldiers were killed this morning after several explosions at the Carlton Hotel in Aleppo. Once one of the nicest hotels in the city, the Carlton had been transformed into a military base. According to Syrian state television, the hotel was destroyed and several nearby buildings were damaged. The Islamic Front – one of the rebel groups fighting against the army and other insurgent militias in Syria – claimed responsibility for the attack. An underground tunnel was used to set the bombs into place.
