Her name is Sr Carolin Tahhan Fachakh and she is a Salesian religious of Don Bosco, a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians. She was honoured by the U.S. Department of State for her courage in serving the people injured in the Syrian War, and for her commitment to safeguarding and supporting the most vulnerable people, in particular children, refugees, and displaced women. By risking her own life, Sr Carolin has become a sign of hope for both Muslims and Christians.
