In the south of Sierra Leone, at Gbondapi, is a region full of water, where during the rainy season roads are often non-existent or disappear and people move about in boats. The new health centre was inaugurated in May making use of the headquarters of an Ebola isolation centre. Sick people used to be taken in there, today it is the house where women giving birth are assisted. In the Gbondapi house not only women from Pujehun District are accepted but also those from Bonthe District where the government hospital is on an island that can only be reached by a three-hour boat journey.
