So many women
in the Iranian parliament

In the whole history of the Islamic Republic of Iran it is the first time that women out-number the ayatollahs in the parliament. In addition to the 14 women elected in the first round of the elections, 4 more gained a seat in the second round, bringing their number to 18 out of 290 members. There are only 16 ayatollahs.
