Retirement is not for the young

· Pontiff by live voice broadcast to 30,000 guides and scouts gathered in San Rossore ·

“The world needs courageous, not fearful young people. It needs young people on the move, who don't stand still: we don't move ahead with young people standing still! It needs young people who always move toward the horizon, and not young people who retire!” Pope Francis spoke these words by live voice broadcast to roughly 30,000 members of the Association of Catholic Guides and Scouts of Italy (agesci), gathered in San Rossore, Pisa for the conclusion of the third National Route on the theme: “Road of courage... straight to the future”. The Holy Father continued, “Dear young people, dear boys and girls, I greet you from here and I wish you all the best. Do not be afraid, do not let your hope be stolen. Life is yours! It is yours to make flourish, to bear fruit for all. Humanity is watching us and it is also watching you on this road of courage. And remember: retirement is at age 65! A young person should never retire, ever! You must go forward with courage”.
