Remembering the first Mass in Italian
On Saturday, 7 March, Pope Francis celebrated Mass in the Parish of Ognissanti in Rome: the same church where, exactly 50 years ago, Paul VI celebrated Mass for the first time in Italian, according to the liturgical norms updated by Vatican II. Francis' visit also coincided with the 75th anniversary of the death of St Luigi Orione (12 March 1940), to whom Pius X entrusted the parish on Via Appia in 1908.
