Protectress of the mistreated

The figure of Teresa Spinelli, recently proclaimed Venerable, was commemorated on Saturday, 11 March during the convention where, in her introductory speech, Lucetta Scaraffia proposed that she should be proclaimed protector of mistreated and abused women. Teresa Spinelli, foundress of the Congregation of the Servants of Jesus and Mary, born in the year of the French Revolution, had a difficult life: subject to the vexations of her husband, she obtained a separation and worked to maintain her family, committing herself to building schools for poor women.
