Sr Nicla Spezzati, asc, has been awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross, a decoration of the Holy See conferred on lay people (men and women) and ecclesiastics who have distinguished themselves in their service to the Church and to the Pope. Born in San Severo, Foggia, Sr Nicla is a member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. With a degree in the Sciences of Communication and in Letters, as well as a doctorate in the Analysis of Religious Phenomena in the Cultures of Media Communications, Spezzati was called upon to teach at various universities. Appointed Under-Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in December 2011, this year she was elected Provincial of her Congregation. She is a member of the Editorial Committee of women church world.
