Pope’s condolences for the death of Cardinal Cottier

The Swiss Dominican Cardinal Georges Marie Martin Cottier, Theologian emeritus of the Papal Household, died on Thursday evening, 31 March, at the Polyclinic Agostino Gemelli in Rome. On 25 April he would have turned 94 years old. Upon learning the news of his death, the Holy Father remembered the deceased Cardinal in prayer. Then the Pope sent a telegram to the Cardinal’s sister Marie Emmanuelle Pastore Cottier expressing that he joined her and all those who remember Cottier’s “strong faith, his fatherly kindness and his great cultural and ecclesial work, particularly during his service as Papal theologian to Pope St John Paul II and Pope emeritus Benedict XVI”.
