· CELAM multimedia portal to help those following the visit in Mexico ·
An extended multimedia platform which includes the web, Twitter, Facebook,YouTube, Instagram, has been launched by the Department of Press and Communications of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM) on the occasion of the Pope's visit. The objective: to document minute by minute this “historic event”. By way of the communications offices of the episcopal conferences of Latin America and the Caribbean, the media is invited to join in covering the papal visit in Mexico.
CELAM is counting on the team of journalists to offer information services on the portal (comunicacioncelam.org). It is possible to access radio and television programmes, as well as social networks: facebook (comunicacioncelam), twitter (@Comunica_celam) and YouTube (celamtv). The website will also provide press statements, photos, live audio and video of all the Pope's meetings in Mexico City, Ecatepec, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Morelia and Ciudad Juárez. This information service has been made possible thanks the support of the network of Catholic media of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean entitled, REDCAM, with special collaboration of the information network of the Church in Latin America called RIIAL.
“The virtual center for communications”, explains the CELAM department, “desires to build fraternity and be of service to the faithful. In this way, we want to live the experience of collegiality as Church ad as operators of Catholic and social media in order to edify the human community under the light of the Holy Spirit”.
