· At the Mass in Ecatepec an appeal not to let our eyes be closed to injustices ·
On the first Sunday of Lent, 14 February, the Pope celebrated Mass in Ecatepec, a populous suburb outside of the Mexican capital. The Pope celebrated Mass at the Centro de Estudios de Ecapetec with lay men and women who work in the Church along with families in attendance. “We have chosen Jesus, not the evil one”, the Holy Father reminded the faithful. “If we remember what we heard in the Gospel, Jesus does not reply to the devil with any of his own words, but rather he the words of God, the words of scripture. Because brothers and sisters, and let us be clear about this, we cannot dialogue with the devil, we cannot do this because he will always win. Only the power of Gods’ word can overcome him.”
