John Paul II to be beatified 1 May

· The promulgation of nine Decrees of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints ·

On Friday, 14 January, the Holy Father granted Cardinal Angelo Amato, sdb , Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, a Private Audience at which he authorized the Congregation to promulgate the following Decrees concerning:

Promulgation of Decrees

— a miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God John Paul II (Karol Wojtyła), Supreme Pontiff; born 18 May 1920 in Wadowice, Poland, and died 2 April 2005 in Rome;

— a miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Antonia Maria Verna, Foundress of the Institute of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception of Ivrea; born 12 June 1773 in Rivarolo Canavese, Italy, and died there 25 December 1838;

— a miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Giuseppe Toniolo, layman and father; born 7 March 1845 in Treviso, Italy and died 7 October 1918 in Pisa, Italy;

— the martyrdom of the Servants of God Maria Giulia (in the world: Kata Ivanišević), Maria Bernadetta (in the world: Teresia Banja), Maria Krizina (in the world: Giuseppa Bojanc), Maria Antonia (in the world: Giuseppa Fabjan) and Maria Berchmana (in the world: Carolina Anna Leidenix), professed sisters of the Institute of the Daughters of Divine Charity, killed in hatred of the faith in Bosnia-Herzegovina 15-23 December 1941;

— the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Antonio Franco, Ordinary Prelate of Santa Lucia del Mela; born 26 September 1585 in Naples, Italy, and died 2 September 1626 in Santa Lucia del Mela, Italy;

— the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Francis Mary of the Cross (in the world: John Baptist Jordan), priest, Founder of the Society of the Congregation of the Divine Savior and the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Savior; born 16 June 1848 in Gurtweil, Germany, and died 8 September 1918 in Tafers, Switzerland;

— the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Nelson Baker, diocesan priest; born 16 February 1842 in Buffalo, USA, and died 29 July 1936 in Limestone Hill, USA;

— the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Faustino Pérez-Manglano Magro, student and postulant of the Marian priests; born 4 August 1946 in Valencia, Spain, and died there 3 March 1963;

— the heroic virtue s of the Servant of God Francisca de Paula de Jesus, called “Nhá Chica”, laywoman; born 1810 in São João del Rei, Brazil, and died 14 June 1895 in Baependi, Brazil.
