The iron curtain

Women continue to be discriminated against in the Regole d’Ampezzo, the institute of traditional collective properties in the area of Cortina. An attempt to equalize the rights of male and female children was recently grounded by a minority opposition that decided not to modify the Laudo, the institute’s internal statutes. The inequality therefore remains. Women are excluded from their rights. In fact, if a head of a family has only daughters, he transmits the rights to them, which however are lost if a daughter marries a foreigner. But if there is even just one son, he receives the full benefits.
