· The Pope joins the Carmelite community in prayer for the fifth centenary of St Teresa ·
“May the flame of God's love overcome the blazes of war and violence which afflict humanity and may dialogue prevail wherever there is fighting”. With these words Pope Francis joined “the hour of prayer for peace” held in all the Carmelite communities around the world for the fifth centenary of the birth of St Teresa of Jesus, to be celebrated on Saturday, 28 March.
At the beginning of the Mass he celebrated on Thursday, 26 March, in the chapel at the Casa Casa Santa Marta, the Holy Father entrusted his prayer for peace to St Teresa. Then he gave the lit candle to the General Superior of the Discalced Carmelites, Fr Saverio Cannistrà, who was present at the celebration.
